Private by design. Nothing you type or paste on this page is saved, recorded, or sent anywhere. The math runs on your own device, and your entries disappear when you close or refresh the page.

1. Type your ZIP code

Each button opens an official government page in a new tab. Your ZIP code is only used to build the link. This page does not save it or send it anywhere.

2. What to do on the page that opens

  1. Past rainfall: on the NOAA page, pick the weather station closest to you from the list or map. Choose Precipitation. You will see daily rainfall for the past year, and you can pick another date. If the search box is empty, type your ZIP code in it.
  2. Last 3 days and forecast: on the National Weather Service page, use the link for the nearest observation station to see the last few days of readings. Use the Past Weather link on that page for older records.
  3. Write down the rainfall for the days you need. Stations can be a few miles from your site, so use your own gauge reading if you have one.

Where this comes from

This page does not collect or average any rainfall numbers itself. It sends you to the official sources, which keep the records:

NOAA Past Weather Tool

Daily rainfall from weather stations across the country, kept by NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information. Records go back many decades at some stations.

National Weather Service local page

Recent observations from the nearest station, the local forecast, and links to past weather and local climate records.

NWS rainfall analysis maps

Map estimates of rainfall for recent days, with an archive. Good for seeing how much fell on your exact site.

CoCoRaHS gauge reports

Daily readings from volunteers with rain gauges, often within a few miles of your site.

Optional: total up your readings

Total up your readings

Paste one reading per line: the date, then the rainfall in inches. Dates can look like 2026-07-14 or 7/14/2026. A reading of T counts as zero, and M (missing) is skipped.

The box starts with example numbers, not real readings. Clear it and paste your own.

Rolling totals add up the daily readings across calendar days, so a "7-day" total covers seven days in a row. Days with no reading count as zero. This is a helper only. Check any number you plan to report against your permit and the original source.
